Infrastructure as code is becoming increasingly popular across the industry. Automating configuration management creates a repeatable and testable process for infrastructure deployment, allows for self-healing infrastructure and brings version control to your infrastructure management process. This session will show you how to use Chef to deploy your IaaS servers on Azure. You’ll learn the differences between deploying to Windows and Linux virtual machines and how you can test your Chef cookbooks prior to deployment using Test Kitchen. This session, based on practical experiences with customers, will also describe how Chef can be used in combination with CI tools to orchestrate continuous deployment scenarios and finish with a high level comparison of major configuration management tools on the market, namely Chef, Puppet, SaltStack and Ansible.
