Microsoft is investing heavily in the Open Web and cross-platform development. This investment has led to the creation of the .NET Execution Environment (DNX) and a host of new tools to support it. DNX is a cross-platform environment for building, packaging, and running web applications. This new cross-platform system provides more deployment options for web developers using the .NET stack, and makes the .NET stack more accessible to non-Microsoft developers. As a developer coming from a traditional Microsoft background, it can be difficult to understand what the new tools are, what they are for, and how the different versions of the tools interact. In this talk, I will explain the basic tools needed to get started with DNX and walk through creating a sample ASP.NET application with the tools. OR In this talk, I will explain the basic tools needed to get started with DNX, and walk through the development workflow using one of the sample ASP.NET applications.
